Wednesday 28th May - Vivid

Vivid Exciting news today is Wednesday! We have been waiting for Wednesday since last Friday. The reason for this is this, Vivid!
Vivid is a light and music show that takes a hold of Sydney city each year. When planning the trip to Australia Laura was a bit sad to have missed it last year but now! Plans have changed and we are here and excited for it! We will be heading into the city with Deb at 4 ready for the start at nightfall.

(As you can tell this was written before we left, sadly we have been busy and haven't been able to get the wifi to get this to you. Luckily today is monday and the office is empty so finally here is our vivid experience! )

We arrived in the city at 5:45 with just enough time to get to our viewing point and grab a bench to watch the city light up. Watching the clock bang on 6 the harbour bridge lit up! We waited in anticipation as we could see more and more building lighting up around the city. Yet the Opera House was still in darkness... The keen photographers who were there waiting too still hadn't taken a single photo. We popped over to talk to them and ask what's going on with the lights. They informed us that the huge cruise ship that docks in Circular Quay was meant to have left at 5:30 didn't and is still in the dock with a tiny projection on it which was meant to be lighting up the opera house. Bad planning there! We waited a little longer then headed off for Luna Park. Luna park is a theme park on Sydney Harbour. Its normally known for its creepy light up face and Ferris wheel but this week its got the best Vivid thing to play with. We arrived to a queue of 3 people. How easy! We thought it would be packed. Once our turn arrived we were taken into a marquee which had a panel to change the colours of the harbour bridge. We had a play and chose our bridge colours. We had 5 seconds before the bridge changed and here's how ours looked. Pretty spiffy and much better than some of the full blue or red ones that we had seen!

After this we headed over the Harbour bridge to Martin Place where we saw the coolest water droplet machine which created words with water. We had our faces projected onto 3d heads, and watched a tree grow out of a building. It really was such fun, everywhere you looked there were bugs crawling up buildings or lasers creating pictures somewhere. It was coming up for 8 when we would see a water show in darling harbour which went every hour. Once we arrived we just caught the end of the show and decided to go have dinner before carrying on. We had the best meal at Eat Love Pizza. We got seats outside so we could see the projections with a great outdoor heater. The staff were fantastic and the Pizzas were to die for! We had a bbq chicken, pulled pork and chilli prawn pizzas all beautiful. Just as we finished eating the show started. Laura jumped over the wall and ran to film it. What she didn't realise was that it would be 10 minutes long and her hands would want to fall off!! It was really great, almost better than Vegas because they projected into the water as it was squirting up. Its not that great in the videos but to the eye it was amazing. (I will try and upload it at some point but it is very long!) After this we paid for dinner and headed off to the harbour again, but not forgetting pudding! We got YUMMY icecreams from the lindor shop, super chocolatey and super indulgent.
There aren't many photos because our photographer had to leave the house in a rush and the tripod head was misplaced in the rush. We are going back to the city this week to get some more photos for you all! Until then here's a few freehand snaps~!
