Bush fires.

First things first we are all safe!
There will be a blog from Laura about Canberra but I thought it a good idea to update you all about the fires. Not sure if it has made the BBC yet but there are 100 bush fires in New South Wales. Over 20 are currently uncontrolled. Where we live and surrounding areas were evacuated yesterday but we were allowed to return home late last night. The house and garden are both ok. A short drive up the road and the damage is obvious though. I'll get some photos up here soon. Around 370,600 acres have been destroyed and hundreds of homes have been lost. As it stands confirmed deaths are none! The fire closest to us is now contained and under control. We are a good distance from it now and it is burning away from the house. A good distance being at least 40 miles from us. Like I said we are all safe here and all is well for us so don't worry about us! According to Deborah should the fire come back our way we have a minimum of a 3 hour warning to leave which is more than enough time. Our evacuation point and safe zone is only a few minutes drive away. Love to all x

  1. Glad to hear that you are both ok and importantly your home is ok especially as your passports etc were inside! Looks like the most serious were in the Blue Mountains so just as well you weren’t up there.
The news says you may have a let off today but the heat is back tomorrow so more could start and burn over the weekend so be careful. Thank you for the update and also letting us all know what you got up to in Canberra, that sounded interesting.. Lots of love x
