Today I woke up at a much more reasonable time and prepared for the day ahead.
Arriving on site today it was overcast and windy, not that I minded in the slightest as it was much cooler! Today we had all 66 staff going mad setting up, the target was to get 2 barges completely rigged. Shortly after we started 2 more shipping containers arrived with even more gear! I was left to my own devices a little today so I had to read the show plan and work out what went where, I thought I would choose the easy bit so I did, as it turned out it wasn't so easy, it was the finale, lots of fireworks but not so much wiring. After I had finished I got a veteran to cast his expert eye over and he said it was all good so that was a good start! Everything was then wrapped in foil and plastic and was good to go. This brought me up to lunchtime (yes the finale took all morning)! where today we had a selection of finger food. I tucked in and had myself 3 tuna sandwiches and 4 chicken schnitzel wraps and a litre of juice. This made me full. Running away was now impossible so nothing could go wrong! I sat in the sun while others went back for thirds! The afternoon was much of the same really and with a new experience, aqua shells! Fireworks that are going to be skipped across the river and will explode on the water
That is one of the cannons that will perform this.
So this is all of today's progress, and on the barge behind as well.
The only trouble with these racks is that they have been used rather a lot and the fibreglass is starting to splinter on them. This makes them really rather difficult to carry so I'm going to try and get some sympathy from some people here...
That's what fibreglass looks like in your arm. It hurts much more than it looks...
Anyway I drove back to the hostel after a rather tiring day, while sitting in traffic I was watching a man playing with his iPad!! While driving!! I got back to the hostel and had a lovely shower. It's lovely to be able to talk to Laura again. I then sat helping the German girls in my dorm with their paperwork for a car they have just bought, not really understanding what they were doing the bargain they have bought is going to cost them a LOT of $. I can't help but feel sorry for them and take pity so I have written the letters to the department of transport and filled out the forms for them. Of which they were so grateful they offered me a cookie. Good deed done for the day. That's them a little happier. Dinner tonight is not that exciting, it's just left overs from last night but I'm sure it will taste nice all the same :)
I'm just off to make that now and will dive into bed after.
Myles signing off...
This looks like proper grown up stuff. And I sympathise with you over the fibreglass damage to your arms. Nasty stuff that is. Just hope you don't breathe in too much. When does the 'Show' take place? I just hope it all goes well for you - and for Foti ! All the best. xxx G.
