We started our time in Brisbane a few days ago now. Our first night was spent with a great couple but it was only for one night. Very kindly they cooked for us and will be emailing them for their burger recipe because it was brilliant! Here's a little photo of our room for the night! It was really beautiful. We spent pretty much all evening with them chatting & the next day as well! We had a few plans for what to do after all of this!
Our second day we traveled closer into the city to stay with our second set of hosts who we are with until Saturday! Their names are Myall and Amy. They live in a beautiful apartment which we are lucky enough to share with them. It's about 20 mins away from the city which was great for us. And a + is they have awesome wifi! This benefitted you all because you have new photos & bits to have a look at! (No need to thank us)So with that we had done 2 days in Brisbane and not seen anything but met some great people. This meant that our goal for Thursday was to leave the house.. D:We were up and out by 9 because it is SO humid here.. Everyone said it would be in Queensland but we didn't realise it would be so sudden. We miss New South Wales it's too sweaty here :(Regardless we took the train (yes Myles got on a train!) as parking is silly in the city. It was lovely and air conditioned and we found our way very easily. We jumped off in the centre of town and had a wonder around. We avoided the bums in the park and headed for the clock tower we could see above us.Turns out this was town hall! We went in for a bit of a nose around and went to the museum of Brisbane. We dropped our bags off in the cloak room to see a women who pretty much had a meltdown about having too many bags that were too heavy.. After leaving our bags there feeling a bit concerned we headed off. We were greeted with free tickets up Into the clock tower. Thank you very much! We had 15 minutes to wait so checked out the museum which was pretty interesting. The clock tower was great. We got a beautiful view of the city & some good information about the tower itself. After this we headed off as it was getting a little warm. We started by taking a selfie outside of the tower whilst being watched... Shortly to be asked to take it again by a camera guy from TEN news, bet you can guess where this is going? Myles ended up doing another interview for he Australian news! He does get around? This tots up 5 times on the Ozzie news for Myles! After that rather odd experience we had a wonder around the town checking out a few shops and bits until the heat got the better of us. A quick lunch of pasta and we were on our way to the beach!Brisbane beach is in South Bank next to the river. It's a totally man made beach with sand and everything it's really cool! It's surrounded by beautiful pink vines wrapped around huge arches all along the walkways of southbank. We spent a good few hours in the sun relaxing and swimming before we got peckish & a little bored so headed back home. We picked up some food on the way back and arrived to a very hot apartment! Myles instantly wanted to go for another swim! We were asked by our hosts if we liked board games and Laura's face lit up! We played an interesting card game which we forget the name of and never really understood but it was based on Monty Python so Myles enjoyed it. Being that it was a game Laura won ;DOnly by default of everyone wanting to have dinner and her having some cards that enabled another play to let her win. But a win is a win nevertheless. We cooked up a great satay chicken curry/stir fry with veggies as well! (We went all out!) it was so lovely but we now have a lot of leftovers too! HahaWe spent the rest of the evening relaxing talking and Myles even went for a late night swim! This was all rounded off with a film. We watched RED2 which we saw in the cinemas with Deb and Ian and we enjoyed watching again! We're loving brisbane & couch surfing for that matter! Meeting so many cool people. Tomorrow is BBQ day with Henning and Liam from our America tour which will be fun!
