We set off and stopped for petrol which ended up being a stop for breakfast. The golden arches bought us in for sausage and egg mcmuffins & hash browns of course!!
After this slight detour we carried on our 80k journey to Phillip Island. Laura spotted a westpac and we made another little detour to transfer some good old english money into our ozzie accounts for our special treat on Thursday! (More about that later!) Finally we arrived at the Island and our luck was in the clouds had started to break! With that we popped into the tourist information center picked a few bits up and were on our way! First stop on Lauras agenda was a chocolate factory!
Chocolate Penguins
Sadly the factory part was closed because they were relaying the floor or something, either way this left Laura feeling very dissatisfied..
We had a look around and promptly left feeling very sad.
After this it was time to check out Myles' first choice which was the racetrack. We had a look around and that too was closed because Mercedes Benz were having some sort of a track day. We had a peek through the fence and decided that nature couldn't be closed so went to check out the other thing Phillip island is famous for, PENGUINS!
We headed for Nobbies Point to see some penguins and seals. Seals were also closed because of Asians which sucked. We then decided that Phillip island was not looking like a good place for us when Laura saw a good looking dirt road and we decided to go for it. Best idea ever. Myles decided to make the car as dirty as possible & we saw some super beautiful scenery.
After this we headed to where the penguins are, they all come up the beach nightly but we hoped we would see a few without having to pay crazy money & where you arent able to take photos or videos! This is crazy. We found a few in viewable nests which were super cute! (These are called little penguins)
They were super cute! We then found a doorway which takes you to the viewing areas for the penguin parade! We pondered on out and had a look at the real and wooden hut burrows for the penguins when Laura spotted one inside one of their huts!
This was very exciting and we saw a few more too. The sun shone beautifully and this was the end of our excitement on phillips island.
Oh but after we had a snack whilst watching the pelicans we made a little booking for a motorbike and the great ocean road!
This is very exciting and will fill our day full of excitement tomorrow!
More on that later..
