Didgeridoos & Didgeridont's

This is a bit of a side post, whilst tidying up our new accommodation Laura found a great book called "Didgeridoos & Didgeridont's "

We only looked because of the name and then saw it was a guide to emigrating down under (don't worry we don't have any plans... yet... Just a few tips!)
It's one woman's experience's of moving to oz with personal stories and general funny stuff thrown in.
Truly we wish we had found it before we came out here as it's about 69million percent more useful than lonely planet. It's made us realise how much we now know about Australia that we didn't before! It had easy things like names of banks, what eftpos is, shoe sizes! All good useful things to know. We thought we would share a few quips with you & some of the many translations within the book that we know!

Food translations!

Icy pole - ice lolly/cream
Hot chips - chips
Chips - crisps
Snags - sausages
Capsicum - pepper
Bottleshops - off licence
Esky - cool box
Amber - beer
Stubby - a bottle of beer
Tinny - can of beer, or a small fishing boat!

General others

Doona - duvet/quilt
Whipper snipper - strimmer
Light globes - light bulbs
Glad wrap - cling film
Joggers - trainers
Swimmers - swimming costume
Thongs - flip flops

So there you have it a guide to all the strange things we will come out with when we come back home!
(We have to be out of the country to apply for residency you see)

Lots of love to you all! Enjoy Ozzie time :)
(Laura rescued one of the baby ducks, how cute!!!)
