Friday 14th, Saturday 15th, Sunday 16th Sunshine Coast

Today was our last day working for the hostel, when we say we I mean Laura was finishing her hours that she hadn't done. This left Myles in bed watching new films & tv shows that terry gave us for our hard drive! It was a pretty easy morning cleaning thankfully! Once this was done back to our room for some chill out time! Myles was watching F1 practice so I had a lay down and watched some girly films we had acquired. This took up most of the afternoon between packing lunch and other things. We headed to play some pool before dinner and got invited to have some leaving drinks with some of the guys we had been working with which was lovely. We ordered our last meal from Wayne the chef who Laura had worked with lots.

We had a really great meal but knew the bistro would be getting busy soon as there was a table of 18 arriving! Which is unheard of in our little hostel. We went back to our room spoke to a very drunk terry and watched some Big Bang theory. After 4 episodes we headed back to the bar for drinks. The boys were still working so we grabbed a jug of bulmers and played some chess outside.
This started as a great idea and then it got hard... Laura won overall so that's okay! Once the lads joined us we had a good old time chatting about where we were going and good places to go In between!
Once the bar etc was locked up we were going to head back to bed. This wasn't allowed we had to go and play pool. Being that it was our last night we decided to go. We went back to Wayne the chefs house which was literally across the road from the hostel. Very easy indeed! Once we got there we saw they had electric bikes and asked a few questions to then be passed helmets and sent out on them. Why we hadn't tried these things before is beyond me they were amazing! We had a ride up and down the road a few times & a drag race which Laura won. Ahem. All good fun! More chatting and a game of pool which we lost later and we were trotting back off home to bed.

Today was the day we were leaving what we called home for the last 2 weeks. This wasn't a sad occasion just an early start after last night getting back around 1am..
We had an early start because F1 is back on yaaaaay. The advert said qualifying starts at 9 so you expect that to happen right? Wrong this is Australia and coverage started at 9 with practice and loads of other races I between and the qualifying was at 4.. When we were still in the car.. Sorry Myles! Once we left Hervey Bay we were set for the sunny coast once again! This time it was actually sunny luckily! We had a great drive down and found our next couch surf easily. We stayed with a lady called Mel in a town called  Maroochydore. She also had the most friendly cat called Apollo! We were invited for an early St. Patricks day drink with her and her Irish friend which was fun. We saw a bit of mooloolaba whilst looking for an Irish bar and wondered around the shops a bit. We had a few drinks and headed back for dinner. Very kindly she offered to cook us our first vegetarian BBQ an unozzie tradition, but as she is a pommie too we let her off! Myles took stance at the BBQ and flipped the unusual looking burgers and sausages! We had a lovely time chatting about Australia and things back home too which was nice. We were also very surprised at how much we enjoyed the food and having some salad after a long time without! We set up bed shortly after followed by Apollo the cat who was shortly evicted for being super playful!

Sunday, race day. First thing on the agenda was breakfast and finding somewhere to watch the f1. After breakfast we headed to the beach and popped into the local RSL and found out that they were showing the race wahoo! Myles now a happy person we headed to the beach to ensure we don't get much paler! We sat down both discussing how big the waves were and then the beach was closed. Oh.
That was sad so the red flags went up and we couldn't go for a swim! We sunbathed for a while longer and got far too hot so walked down to the water to dip our toes in. This was fine and Laura found another dead jellyfish poked it and ran away. After cooling off significantly we headed back to our spot which seemed to be the hottest place on the whole beach!!
Another few hours spent relaxing and we were done! We headed back for some late lunch and used a bit of wifi before the race started. We headed for the RSL, Laura with lots of things to stop her getting bored. And found a seat in front of the TV which was showing rugby. This was soon changed and the volume turned up! We both watched the pre race stuff and the first few laps before Laura lost interest an went for a wonder returning with a paper Which managed to last the entire race!
We also bought the most expensive soft drinks in the world spending $8 for a coke and fanta which came in a glass bottle for some reason? Because of this neither of us felt back for sneak eating dairy milk whilst watching. Suitably happy with the results dinner was on the cards & we had planned to cook a veggie curry as Mel had cooked for us the night before but found that she was going out. Easy enough we wanted chicken in our curry anyways! Instead a Heniz pasta tin was cracked open followed by some more Big Bang theory and an early night. Oh also Apollo slept in our room all night and on our bed in the morning!!! So cute! :)
