Saturday 20th
This morning was our first morning at octopus. We got up had breakfast and returned to our dorm for a while. We had a walk down to the beach to have an explore, there wasn't much to see really it was just a beach! So we returned and had a snooze in the sun until lunchtime. We headed up for lunch, there wasn't a full menu as they weren't all working again yet so Laura had a chicken burger and Myles had the beef burger. Both weren't really worth writing home about so we won't. After lunch we went to the dive shop to hire our snorkelling gears (yes the Fijians call it gears) and went for a quick snorkel. The sea was fine but it had clouded over so it was a bit dark. We tired ourselves out and headed back to shore. We decided to have a shower and go to the dorm. This was a good call as the heavens opened. A proper tropical rainstorm ensued and drenched everything! So we hid in the dorm all afternoon and played on our phones haha. Dinner came round and we headed for the restaurant still baffled by the sand floor and sat t a table and by sheer coincidence we realised we had sat at the same table as the Australian family we met the night before!! Again we got chatting waiting for our soup to arrive, we waited for a while and weren't looking forward to it. It was spinach soup. The soup arrived and it looked like what we were expecting, green gunge. Both of us tried it, Laura rejected it however Myles rather liked it and had both! It was actually rather nice!! Main course was a marinated chicken with red wine jus and tomato relish. My god the relish was spicy and the jus was very very very well reduced... it was strong! Pudding was a pumpkin and coconut pie, I managed to have 3 of these as the Australian childeren had left and I had Laura's. their dad had 2 as he had his other daughters. We spent a good 3 hours chatting and getting into a rather heated debate about F1 (being an Aussie he obviously supported Mark Webber). After this we went to the coconut bar as they were giving everyone tequila shots. Both Laura and me don't really drink but we will both have anything that's free. We drank our petrol flavoured drink and went to bed.
